SharePoint Online 2013 preview is now out for testing, there are many new features, but the most noticeable is the new MetroUI and SkyDrive Pro, other important features are listed below:
- Enhanced Search
- Records Management
- Cloud Apps
- MetroUI
- SkyDrive Pro
- Social (People, Blogging, Newsfeed, TwitterFB style)
- New Web Publishing features and templates
- Rights Management Services (RMS)
- Improved Office Web Apps
- In-Place Governance and Compliance (can search across the whole O365 platform such as Exchange and Lync)
SharePoint Online 2013 also have benefits to Microsoft as it nows supports shredded content storage (versions kept as deltas) Velocity Distributed Caching, Page rendering and Profile refresh increases. Obviously all these features are part of SharePoint 2013
